Wirral Environmental Network, working in conjunction with Magenta Living, Wirral Borough Council and Urban Vintage New Brighton have collectively saved over 10 tonnes of reusable furniture from landfill.
An innovation in waste prevention programme found that every one tonne of reused household goods is estimated to assist 15 low income households in the provision of affordable items. This is born out by our experience where we have helped over 100 households with support.
Reuse services are estimated to save low income beneficiaries an average of £150 on the purchase of essential household goods.
Magenta tenants can view items via the Magenta on-line catalogue.
To support the project, items are also available to purchase via Urban Vintage New Brighton, at the Birkenhead Refresh Store
Huge thanks to Merseyside Recycling Waste Authority and Veolia for supporting the project.
