WEN can provide speakers to give talks to community groups about local environmental topics.

WEN appears at events such as the Wirral Earth Fest, Neston Earth Festival and Cool Heswall. At our stall, we provide information about WEN’s projects and the courses we run. We have reading materials about the climate emergency and the Cool Wirral strategy (see below). Our volunteers are able to chat with event visitors about climate solutions and suggest actions to reduce personal and community carbon footprints. By publicising the Mersey Green Network Map and the Big Green List we signpost other Wirral organisations that work to protect our local environment.

We also like to have some interactive elements to our stalls, such as food tasting, and packets of seeds and recipe cards to take home to encourage a more sustainable approach to diet and meal planning.

If you are holding a local event with space available for us to take a stall or would like to enquire about booking a talk, please email wen@la21.net

Members of WEN have been longstanding attendees on the Wirral Active Travel Forum, consistently contributing to and supporting solutions for Active Travel.

Liverpool City Region Year of the Environment 2019

WEN was the lead Wirral organisation for Liverpool City Region Year of Environment in 2019. As such, we spoke at the launch event outlining the work of local environmental groups and were at the final summit event representing Wirral.

Time Capsule at Ness Gardens

In 1994 WEN supported the time capsule project at Ness Gardens. Capsules around the world contained environmentally relevant items with letters of apology to our grandchildren and outlines of hopes for the future.

There was another event at Ness Gardens in 2019 to mark the 25th anniversary of the time capsule burial. Read about what happened here:
