We have recently had our Carbon Footprint calculated and analysed by Low Carbon Eco Innovatory.
Our Carbon Footprint is low, and has been falling, but the figures shows us there is more we can do and where we should focus.
Low Carbon Eco Innovatory worked with us to pull and process the data we needed to establish our Carbon Footprint. A Carbon Footprint can have many definitions (which we will examine in more detail in the future) but it is important to make a start and then you can find out where to focus.
The biggest wins we can make are around Energy and Transport – persuading our landlord to switch to a green energy tariff and switching all business travel and commuting to bikes or electric vehicles. Staff use vehicles when we are collecting and delivering supplies for projects and we are mindful of the embedded carbon in our vehicles – it may be better to keep what we have until they need replacing. Will let you know how we get on with the landlord 🙂
Low Carbon Eco Innovatory is a partnership between Liverpool John Moores University, University of Liverpool and Lancaster UniversityIt works with organisations to identify opportunities for low carbon development including low carbon goods, processes and services. So if you are a small to medium enterprise (including charities) in the Liverpool City Region and you want to be greener, you may be able to get funded support. https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/microsites/ecoinnovatory.
